Thanks for making your MacQuarium. I came across the MacQuarium in MacAddict a few years back and knew I had to make one when I had time. Well, I made one along with a web site http://www2.whidbey.net/makdurk/ and even got into October 2000 issue of MacAddict in the "You Know Your A Mac Addict When..." section...I have had a gold fish and 2 algae eaters in mine for 3 months one of the algae eaters recently died possible lack of food. I'll be adding a beta this week...his name will be Cube. Thanks for the inspiration. I will be making several variations in the summers to come...Swim Different

practice first with smaller tanks it will help you get the practice you need to work with caulk try incorperating the filter system out side tank to give you more water volume ie healthier fish

It is very difficult to keep fish alive in such a small tank. If you're no pro in fishkeeping, only put an apple snail or two in your macquarium. If you really want fish, buy some that are made of glass or plastic. If you know you'll hang yourself if you don't have any live fish in your macquarium, only buy three or four white cloud minnows or zebrafish (NO GOLDFISH UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. THEY WILL ONLY DIE.) but if you can't keep them alive *don't* buy more. Switch to glass fish. The secret to keeping fish alive in a tank like this is changing at least 50% water every single darn week. And don't forget to dechlorinate the water before adding it to your tank. More information on fish is available in books or your favourite fishy website (like http://www.thekrib.com/).

I made a MacQuarium out of an SE/30... It's great. I've had a fish in it for over a year and I just bought another... I use the Logic board for a backdrop for a more computery feel... Yours might have died because of stuff you put in the tank or if the glue didn't completely die. I have an Algae Eater (the one that's been there for a year) and I just put in a beta... They both seem happy. I found a light that fits but the bulb died right away. If you e-mail me I may be able to find one for your tanka nd we can work out a payment deal. Don't give up, just find less rowdy fish...

Great idea for making use of a DOA MacPlus, although--considering how much fun and usefulness those old MPs were, making it into a fishtank seems to me to be analogous to finding out your favorite uncle has died, and making a floor lamp out of him.

Great job on the site, the construction photos are helpful. I just got the glass cut for my macquarium. I wonder what kind of sealant you used, your fish passed on so quickly. Also, you cannot use any soap, windex, or other cleaners on the tank!! You're not a PC user, so you're not used to doing things the hard way!

Dust that thing off and have another go at it - it'll work and I will be looking for a photo of it! I can't make one - I am still using my old Mac!!!!

We replaced our broken Mac Plusses with G3's. I was thinking we could turn all of the old Mac Plusses into aquariums and connect them together with plexiglass tubes. That way they could still use them AND keep them networked at the same time.

Matt, I liked the fish tank thing, two changes I would do, a smaller air stone, and two small glass plates on the top, one on the rear part of the tank, so the fish don't "trip" any more, and one in the front so they don't do the back flip into your potted plant, also, try a snail or pocosamus fish to keep the alge down, I'll do mine up by summer an let you know on how it goes.

Excellent site. I've had my Macquarium (I prefer the Highland Scots spelling, i.e., with the lower-case 'q' within Macquarium. A lowlander would use a capital q) since 1997. I also put mine together during Christmas holidays in 1996. Presently mine has two aquatic frogs.

For god sakes, man, ship me your MacQuarium! Send me an Email about how much it weighs, what it's dimensions are. I'll send an empty box with packing material and a "fragile-class" shipping sticker adressed to me. I'll pay for the 'Quarium. I'll pre-pay sll shipping costs, just give me the info! It would be cool of you to send the air pump, too (which I will pay for). But if you can't bear to part with it, I'll understand :^). I hope this next part works...
